Art for Love, Peace and Hope

At Yumba arts, I believe that art is more than just colors on a canvas—it's a reflection of emotions, stories, and connections that transcend time and boundaries. My studio is more than a name; it's a testament to the power of creativity and self-expression.

My Mission

My mission is to bridge cultures, emotions, and experiences through the language of art. My aim is to create a space where art becomes a universal channel for dialogue, understanding, and inspiration.

Through my story and creations, I strive to encourage others to find their own artistic voice and use it to bring positive change to the world.

About Me

My name is Richard Ngombe Yumba, and I was born on October 5, 2000, in Lubumbashi, Congo. I began drawing when I was 5 years old.

Throughout my years in elementary and secondary school, I engaged in a lot of drawing. I used to construct miniature houses, create toy vehicles out of scrap metal, and even invent imaginative items, such as furniture made from food (FUFU).

My parents, especially my dad, were my greatest supporters. We used to sketch together and had an incredibly close bond. However, he passed away when I was 7 years old, leaving me struggling to comprehend his absence. Even though I had other friends as a child, I felt that art was my closest companion after my dad's passing. Growing up without a father was challenging, prompting me to explore creative avenues to inspire myself, keep my dad's memory alive, and express my emotions. Since then, art has become my refuge—a place of solace and a guiding light in my life.

Now, my art serves as a mirror to my thoughts, enabling me to contribute positively to the world. I speak out for those who have experienced violence, share my own story, spread joy, and encourage young people to cultivate a positive mindset.

Currently, I reside and study in Norway. I am a high school student, and I often dedicate my nights to painting and drawing due to time constraints.
